THE IMPERIAL MERCHANT SERVICE GUÍA 14 AUC 31

THE ARCADE,

LORD STREET,

LIVERPOOL.

22nd July, 1913.

Sir: -

I am requested by the Guild to forward to you the

enclosed copies of reports of the piratical attack by

Chinese passengers on board the Steanship "Tai On*

flying the British flag, which have been forwarded

to us by the Captain and Chief Officer of the steamer.

We understand that an attack of a similar nature

has recently taken place on board the Steamship

"Robert Lebaudy", & French steamer trading in Chinese

waters, and it is understood that the French

Government are dealing with the matter of demanding

reparation.

In view of the very serious nature of the "Tai

On" case and to the necessity of steps for the pre-

vention of repetition of such cases, we sincerely and

The Right Honourable

The Secretary of State

for Foreign Affairs.

respectfully
